Assamese
is one of the major Indian languages, spoken by nearly
22 million people (1991 census) in Assam, a state in the
North-East region of India.
Dr.
Zohurul Hoque's translation is the first and only translation
of the Qur'an in Assamese language in the Internet. Currently
we have first few Surahs on the server. Please come back
again, as we will have rest of the Surahs available soon,
insha-Allah.
The
first edition of Assamese translation is out of print.
Works on the second edition of the translation is underway
and insha-Allah will be published in future in print version.
Dr.
Zohurul Hoque is
the only person who has translated the Holy Qur'an into
three languages: Assamese, Bangla and English. Dr. Hoque's
approach to the Holy Qur'an is immensely refreshing, endowed
with rational, scholastic, scientific and proper Islamic
perspective within the scope of broad Sunni understanding,
without any bias to any particular school of thought.
