| My
Rabb! surely the bones in me are weakened, and the head flares with
hoariness, and my Rabb! never I have been unsuccessful in my prayers
to you. And surely I fear my relations after me, and my wife is
barren, therefore grant me from Yourself a trustee.

| This
supplication is mentioned in Surah Maryam. As a prelude to the history
of Mar-yam and birth of 'Isa(pbh), the extraordinary incident with
Prophet Zakariyya
(pbh) is mentioned. Zakariyya (pbh) had made this supplication to
grant him a child although he was an old man and his wife was barren.
As a response to this supplication, Allah rewarded him with a child,
Yahya. |
