Supplication seeking pardon (1 of 4)
Rabbi innii 'a-'uuzu bika 'an 'as-'alaka maa laysa lii bihii 'ilm. Wa 'illaa tagfir lii wa tarhamnii 'akum-minal khaa-sireen
My Rabb! surely I seek refuge with You for asking You that about which I have no knowledge; and if You do not forgive me and have mercy to me, I shall become of the losers. (11:47)

Prophet Nuh (pbh) had requested Allah to save his sinner son at the time of Great Deluge on the pretext of he being a member of his family. He had done this request out of fatherly love for his son (11:45). But the son being a sinner and rejecter of faith, was not to be saved. Allah knows best why he would not be saved. Allah admonishes Nuh not to ask about which he as no knowledge (11:46). This supplication is to be made to show humility in our mind and seek forgiveness and guidance from Allah. We admit that we know so little about unknown and unseen. It is Allah to whom we seek refuge and we plead to Allah saying if He does not guide us then we shall become loser. It is like complete submission to Almighty Allah for His mercy and guidance.
